After more than two years of renovation and a total makeover, promoted by its owner, Colliers Global Investors, one of the hotels that made history in business hospitality in the city reopens its doors.
Leading the project – which is located in a major redevelopment area – the hotel management company Aries Group. The goal? To grow Milan’s accommodation offerings, with a hybrid formula capable of meeting business and leisure needs.
Milan, 24 May 2023 – The new Quark Hotel Milano, a four-star urban oasis that aims to become a city landmark where business and leisure can be combined, has made its debut.
On the strength of an innovative and transversal project – which looks to the future of Milan as a capital of business, fashion and design, but also as a glamorous and fun metropolis, perfect for a weekend of pleasure – Quark Hotel Milano has been completely rethought as a hybrid structure: an extra-comfortable hub for business guests, a unique solution in the city for events (the congress centre on three levels has a total area of 6,200 square metres), a cosy and dynamic situation for travellers and long-stayers, a green and unconventional alternative for tourists who do not want to give up tailor-made comforts and prefer not to stay in the city centre, but want to reach it quickly.
Location, mobility and supply. For a project that looks to the future.
On Via Lampedusa, in the heart of the Vigentino district, just a stone’s throw from the Bocconi and IULM universities, and a few minutes from the Prada Foundation: Quark Hotel Milano is betting on the future and opening in an area that will be the main character of a major redevelopment, with projects ranging from new residential units to large office and service complexes. The center? The Duomo is less than 4 km away, while Linate Airport, the Central Station and Rogoredo Station are all within a 15- to 20-minute drive. The hotel will provide a continuous shuttle service and support green mobility with charging towers directly at the hotel. Soon, a fleet of electric vehicles will also be implemented for an innovative “private car sharing” service.
Restyling. Everything new.
In the renovated Quark Hotel Milano, the interior spaces make the difference: here, the contemporary design, spacious and comfortable rooms (283 in total) dialogue with completely redesigned common and dining areas, to meet the needs of a young clientele that loves shared spaces and opportunities to meet. The entire project was handled by the Milan-based architecture firm CaberlonCaroppi, under the guidance of the Aries management group. The studio’s approach took into account the urban context in which the building is located, for a final result in which the design combines aesthetic pleasantness with functionality and the use of clean, essential lines. In the suites and common areas, the colours, decorations and materials have been harmoniously chosen to offer guests fresh and at the same time welcoming environments, and particular importance has been given to the materials and fabrics selected. The hotel has 16 Superior rooms of 28 square metres, 128 Junior Suites of 36 square metres, 60 Family Suites of 44 square metres, 12 Apartment Family Suites of 66 square metres and finally 52 rooms on the Studios’ Floor on the 5th floor (from 36 to 50 square metres), intended for hybrid and long stays, and flanked for this purpose by a living room equipped with microwave, sharing table, sink, vending machine. A gymnasium completes the range of services. Pets are allowed on request.
«We are particularly proud of how we were able to recover and return the Quark Hotel to the city. Today it is a place of hospitality, meeting and relations that looks to the future of Milan and its vocation as the capital of business, fashion and design, perfect for business and conference guests, but also for tourists. The Quark Hotel is the hub of an area undergoing profound change that will be able to restore value and dynamism to an entire area», commented Ofer Arbib, CEO of Colliers Global Investors Italy SGR.
Food. Casual with starry DNA.
The entire gastronomic offer of Quark Hotel Milano is curated by starred chef Andrea Ribaldone, the new seal of a solid collaboration with the Aries group. The task of guiding the Quark kitchens falls to executive chef Moreno Ungaretti: 43 years old, from Barga (Lucca), he has a curriculum full of experience in important hotels. His objective? To create a gastronomic offer based on the quality and seasonality of the ingredients, with great attention to the well-being of the guest and a predilection for Italian excellence and local raw materials: on the Quark Hotel Milano table and in the banqueting proposals there are many products coming from farms and farmsteads in the surrounding area, and a great variety of vegetables. A ‘good km’ concept that guarantees real quality ingredients and avoids standardised and industrial raw materials as much as possible. Among the dishes that stand out on the menu of the “casual dining” restaurant Morbido are the ‘Tagliere al km buono’, with local cured meats and cheeses accompanied by fried gnocco, the iconic Spaghetto Milano, with saffron risotto cream and ossobuco ragout in gremolada, the typical Lombard ‘Mondeghili’ and the ever-present ‘Costoletta alla milanese’.
In addition to the Morbido restaurant, there is a lounge for events and banquets, a breakfast room flooded with natural light (La Veranda), a lobby bar ideal for a quick lunch, a coffee, an aperitif or a relaxing after-dinner drink, and a Grab&Go open 24 hours a day, with sweet and savoury proposals, unique dishes, as well as snacks, granola, cold dishes and drinks, ready to eat or to take away with you.
For business. In a big way.
A congress centre on three levels, with a total area of 6,200 square metres, 42 meeting rooms including two plenary rooms of 800 and 1,450 square metres, the latter capable of accommodating over 1,500 people: there is nothing bigger in Milan.
There is also an outdoor car park and a covered garage for 90 cars.
Sustainability of substance.
Sustainability for the new urban retreat is a choice that takes shape in a verdant outdoor setting and is realised on several fronts, starting with partnerships with industry players such as Ethic Ocean, a non-profit environmental organisation active in safeguarding the ocean and its resources. In this regard, the “Green Choice” campaign is now underway in the hotel, which encourages water saving and includes donations from the hotel to the organisation. Another collaboration is with Treedom, the Italian e-commerce that allows people and companies to plant trees all over the world and follow their history online: last year the ‘Aries forest’ was born, while 2023 will be the year of the ‘Quark forest’. A ‘food bank’ is being set up with the Red Cross, thanks to which leftover food – well preserved and packaged – will be redistributed in social canteens. These initiatives go hand in hand with a series of internal good practices, ranging from the choice to be as plastic free as possible (in the rooms, 99% of plastic is absent, 1% is recycled plastic, refillable dispensers, bottles and glasses made of glass or recycled plastic, recycled paper wrappings are used, while outside the rooms, straws, bottles and plastic containers are replaced by glass, paper or other recycled material) to separate waste collection in the kitchens and back office. Among the projects being implemented is the alternative mobility service that will soon complement the classic services already offered by the hotel with a fleet of electric vehicles available to guests, including scooters, e-bikes and scooters, all of which can be hired from reception.
